Program 4: Bake the Cake
Our story begins with an animated opening that introduces the viewer to READ-ALEE-DEED-ALEE (READ), and explains that he is on a journey to a land where people love to read.
We find READ at home wrapping a birthday present for Mr. Booker. With his friends RADIOLA, BELLE and TOC, he sings about Mr. Booker and his birthday present. READ won't reveal to his friends what the present is, maintaining that he wants to keep it a surprise. He then leaves for Mr. Booker's newsstand.
At the newsstand, READ wishes Mr. Booker a "happy birthday" and Mr. Booker tries to guess what's in the package. It contains a birthday cake! XTRA, the newspaper, greets READ, and tells him about a new movie called "Bake the Cake".
READ rushes to the movie theatre for the next showing. The movie introduces words and rhyming words.
Next, READ flies off to the Reading Room and joins a group of children who have gathered to hear some books read: Jake The Snake, The Dragon Spoke and part of Mr. Rabbit and the Lovely Present. Afterwards, READ heads home. Along the way he encounters signs "in the real world" which he is able to read. We last see READ, in bed thinking about his day and all he has learned. He falls asleep, a happy and better educated young dragon.

Mr. Booker is putting up signs of various shapes to show customers what he has to sell: triangles for magazines, circles for books, rectangles for newspapers and squares for cards. XTRA appears with a story to share with READ. READ opens the newspaper and reads a story about an elf who lives up north where it is cold.
